OVERVIEW:
Sarsaparilla plant is a member of the Liliaceae (lily) family of vines and is primarily used as a flavoring for beverages with its velvety, vanilla-like root beer flavor. The root is typically prepared as an infusion or decoction to make teas and syrups or cold beverages. It pairs perfectly with warm spices in tea blends.
Sarsaparilla plant roots have been ground up and used to make natural remedies in folk medicine for thousands of years. The root contains several active compounds including a variety of minerals and antioxidants that have many health benefits that include lowering inflammation, raising immunity, promoting longevity and balancing hormones.
