OVERVIEW:

Cloves are the undeveloped aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae and can be used whole or ground. They have a strong, sweet pungent flavor and aroma. Cloves warm, spicy and slightly bitter flavor is used in sauces, soups and rice dishes, notably a number of traditional Indian dishes like garam masala. They also lend a sweet and spicy flavor to various baked goods and beverages. Cloves provide antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities and nutritionally, they are an excellent source of manganese, as well as fiber, vitamin K, vitamin C, calcium and magnesium.
